While browsing past auctions in the Sotheby's archives, this fabulous vintage coat-dress caught my eye, and I found the multi-tiered ruffled collar and black buttons to feel surprisingly modern, and also very '70s-Ossie Clark, due to its exaggerated proportions, pirate cuffs and maxi length. It soon had me even more entranced when I read that it was worn by Vivien Leigh in the 1941 film, That Hamilton Woman. It sold at auction in 2002 for $8,365 (and worth every penny).
Dearest High-Bidder,
New York can be quite chilly this time of year, so if you decide out of the kindness of your heart to part with this coat and help me stay warm, please be in touch.
Sincerely green with envy,
~ The Vintager
